New England New Play Alliance
In 2014, I helped found the New England New Play Alliance. This StageSource initiative seeks to grow audiences for new plays, encourage more new play development and production, and spread the word outside of Boston about plays/playwrights from Greater Boston/New England.
Plays in Place
I am the founder and producing artistic director of Plays in Place, a new theatre company specializing in creating site-specific plays in collaboration with cultural institutions and historic sites.
Dramatists Guild Regional Rep
In 2017, I was elected to serve as New England Regional Rep for the Dramatists Guild. For the next few years, I will be involved in setting up events and workshops across New England for playwrights and will be advocating for the interests of New England Guild Members to the Council
Cato & Dolly
The Bostonian Society commissioned me to write a new play featuring the door from the Hancock Mansion.
Playwright Submission Binge
In 2003, I started this online group to help make my marketing chores a little more fun. Now, more than 15 years later, it has grown into an online community of more than 1,000 playwrights from around the world. Twice a year, we take of the challenge of sending out a play a day, every day, for 30 days.
Renovating Houses
My wife, Tracy, and I have done major remodeling work in Conifer, CO, and Roxbury, MA, and now we’ve taken on the challenge of an 1890s Victorian in Medford, MA.
Teaching/Consulting
I am available to work with students and other writers as a coach and dramaturg in the development of new plays and projects.
Mount Auburn Cemetery Artist-in-Residence
I spent two years as the artist-in-residence at the beautiful Mount Auburn Cemetery. During my residency, I created two sets of five site-specific one-act plays, The Nature Plays and The America Plays, which were produced in 2019 by my theater company, Plays in Place, on the grounds of this American landmark.
